Fence Installation in Toledo, Ohio
Straitline Fence has installed residential and commercial fences throughout Toledo, Ohio for over 30 years.
We're a family owned, Toledo-based company — not a franchise, and not a big box supplier like Home Depot or Lowe's. Every post we set goes into concrete, built to hold up through Ohio's freeze-thaw winters.
We serve every neighborhood in the City of Toledo, plus the surrounding area from Norwalk to the east, Findlay to the south, and the Indiana state line to the west. Our commercial crews also take on larger projects in Columbus and the Cleveland/Akron area.
Whether you're putting up a privacy fence around a new deck, fencing a rental property on a budget, securing a commercial lot, or lining a rural property line, the sections below walk through what that looks like in Toledo specifically — cost factors, permit rules by jurisdiction, and the materials that fit each situation.

Find Your Fence: What Toledo Homeowners and Businesses Are Usually Looking For
"I want privacy in my backyard."
If you're fencing a backyard for a new pool, a new dog, a new deck, or just to stop the neighbors from watching you grill — wood and vinyl privacy fencing are the most common Toledo installs we do. Cedar and treated pine both hold up well in this climate; vinyl trades a slightly higher upfront cost for close to zero maintenance. We'll walk you through the real difference in person or on your free estimate, including where your property line actually sits, which is the single most common surprise in Toledo installs.
"I need something functional, not fancy — and I need a real price."
If cost per foot is the main question, chain link is almost always the answer, with aluminum as the step up when you want something that looks a little more finished without the wood-and-vinyl price tag. Both go up fast and both hold a yard, a dog run, or a rental property line without a lot of fuss. We quote plainly — economical and effective, no upsell pressure.
"We need commercial or code-compliant fencing."
Straitline handles fencing for warehouses, churches, schools, HOAs, and property managers across Northwest Ohio — including pool-code compliant aluminum, cantilever and swing gates, and gate operators. We carry the licensing, insurance, and association memberships (AFA, NAHB, BBB A+) that a bid process usually asks for, and over 30 years of installs that a facilities manager can check references on.
"I'm on a rural or larger property."
Outside the urban core — Whitehouse, Waterville, Swanton, and similar areas — split rail and larger-acreage fencing is a different job than a suburban lot: longer runs, livestock or boundary-marking needs, and a more rustic look. We install split rail specifically for that, and it's worth a call even if your project is a lower-volume, straightforward job — that's exactly the kind of project a big box store or out-of-town contractor tends to handle worst.

How a Toledo Fence Project Works
Estimate
We schedule an on-site appointment with one of our estimators. Depending on project scope, you'll receive a completed estimate by email 24 to 48 hours after the visit.
Deposit & Signing
If you accept the estimate, you'll sign the proposal and send in a 30%–50% material deposit depending on the type of project.
Permits & Utility Marking
Once your deposit is received, you (the homeowner) will file any required permits with your municipality, and we'll contact Ohio811 to have public utilities marked. Private lines — sprinkler systems, invisible dog fences, private electrical — need to be marked by the homeowner beforehand.
Installation
Your project goes on our installation schedule. We'll confirm the week, then the exact date as it approaches, and go over layout and details with you before we start.
Completion & Warranty
The remaining balance is due on completion. Labor is warrantied for one year; materials carry the manufacturer's warranty.
